  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Epic package for rent in Los Angeles 400$

.... how?

Good luck, you might get some shady characters at that price point. Don't know whats included besides the media and lenses but absolute minimum for that package would be around $1,300 per day based on a 2% kit value and assuming some kind of (cheap) battery solution.

I often will give out good deals (lower than 2% kit value) on my camera package, but I don't advertise that, and I only do it for people who are working on projects that are extremely low budget, and are funded by people who are just starting out (early grads, students, etc,)

Or based on huge overheads? I rent a full ready to shot package in the uk for £300 a day near London roulettefilms

Toss 2% value out the window. It's not realistic. $500/day it will rent. He also has a set of lenses. Make sure you have the renter get production insurance and verify it.

Rent out your kit at $1300, you still might get shady characters. There are a lot of them in the film industry. That's why worth of mouth is the best business practice IMO.

Louis, I feel ya. We have a good package now, probably worth $2000/day. That would be nice.

or I'll just rent your camera and lenses on a 10-day month for 4k... and make double the money re-subbing it...

"Value budget" kits are what the producers love, and what the ACs hate. It keeps the anti-red ac mantra alive.... ask a fare price for your kit, have the ability to invest in new/better aks, and rent to bigger jobs, otherwise you'll be stuck in craigslistland for a long time.

Thank you Adam,

This my first big investmant, i have great package (Bomb OLed, side handel) and about to get much more staff like good matt box and goof tripod..

It would be great to rent to for 1300/day but i dont have client like that
so for now im planing to get as much jobs as i can and meet lots good people..

And in LA u can find really good package with super speed set for 800$
it getting harder and harder..

You need to sell the package with yourself so people want YOU with the package. So yes, you do have to meet some people and get that demand set in place. I think you can still price the package a little better. Offer a epic barebone package, then charge more with more lenses/accessories etc.

Even smaller productions should be prepared to pay 650-800 for this package even though its worth ~1500+

Sidenote:
I'm a steadicam OP, and I've worked with Karim and he is an excellent 1st AC and a great guy! I wouldn't pay for the camera package alone, I'd have him come with it.
A shitty AC will destroy my shots, so that's where I set my value...
