I'm selling my RED transfer station. Completely with all accessories. Since I've stopped working as a camera assistant over two years ago I do not need it anymore.

The station was specifically designed and built with the single goal of providing a fast and secure back-up for RED media on the set. It is fast, rugged, all-in-one and has a 10 minute battery-backup.
It took me almost six months of research and building it. Several other people built their station according to the plans I created while building this prototype.

These are the specs:
  • Rugged military grade aluminium case
  • 14 inch screen with 1024x768 pixel resolution
  • 3 GHz Core2Extreme CPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • Runs OSX (on a SSD)
  • Built-in drive bay for a swappable 3.5" HD
  • Red-Drive LEMO connector. Hot-swappable
  • Up to 2 CF slots (SATA speed)
  • REDMAG 1.8" bay
  • 2.5" drive bay for EasySwap drive modules. Hot-swappable
  • 1200W UPC (230V)
  • Canon Selphy printer for continuity pictures
  • Software: Shot Put Pro, R3D Data Manager, Clipfinder, Crimson
  • FW-800, USB-2 and eSATA ports.
The idea is that you can copy your data from the red drive or card simultaniousely to the internal 3.5" HD and the 2.5" module using ShotPut Pro. The 2.5" modules go to the editor every night, while the large drives stay on set as a backup. You can also create offline media using clipfinder directly on set.

The following items are included:
  • The transfer station
  • A flight case for the station
  • The 1200W USV
  • The flight case for the USV
  • A case with power cables for the USV
  • An external 3.5" drive bay with case
  • An external 2.5" drive bay with quad-interface (FW800) and case
  • An external CD drive with case
  • 6 EzSwap drive modules with 300-500GB capacity
  • A RED DRIVE LEMO cable
  • A big box full of spare parts and more accessories like a P2 slot.
  • A Canon Selphy CP760 printer and about 80 credit card stickers. All in a case.
  • Documentation and promo materials.
There are six 2.5" drives included. The capacities are 1x 150GB, 3x300GB and 2x460GB.
There is also a 400GB 3.5" HD with backup images.

*** Now on ebay ***

You will also get the building plans and all documentation. You could sell those if you want, too.

That does look like a great system.

very nice design! i like how you solved things like the integrated LEMO port..

The plans are on Google Drive. They are not publicly available though.

The speed depends on the verification method. Unfortunately I don't have any specs here and I wiped the logs from the last shoot already. But it's all SATA through all devices. (Including CF and RED DRIVE).

I have to add a warning to potential buyers. You should be handy with computers and have built your own PC before. You will have to upgrade the station at some point and you should be able to maintenance it from time to time.

Also, it's still running OSX 10.5.5. It's possible to update it to a newer version but this process will take several hours.

This is a great system. I know, I built a very similar system based on this design. I can also verify that it is a great price as these custom rugged computer cases are very expensive.
Someone should grab this quick. good luck with sale Simon

Is the monitor included in the deal and is it color grade? I am interested in getting a kit like this, dragonfire, rouge, been looking around... Thanks for the info!

PS after the sale any chance of making your DIT kit building plans public?

The monitor is part of the kit and it's calibrated using a Pantone Huey Pro.

I won't make my building plans public, but they go to who ever buys the kit. (I earned several thousand dollars just by selling the plans).

I have lowered the price again. This is less than I paid just for the case!
