RED ROCKET not playing back 5k HD

Jon, all i know is that i've seen threads on RU about 16:9 footage having problems in Premier and i think also RCX....not sure what it was about...something with scaling,....wish i had an answer, but i shoot all 2:1 because of seeing that thread many weeks ago....and prefer 2:1 anyway. I'm sure someone will chime in soon here.

Have you tried any footage non 16:9 to see how it all works?

Also, when you say RR is not playing back 5k HD....WHERE are you speaking of? PrPro; RCX ?

johnny, yeah the RR plays back 5kFF just fine, but in RedCine or premiere it is not playing back at all. It will play back without the rocket, but with difficulty.

Ok I take that back it won't play in Premiere at all, but it does play in RedCine. This is a big deal for us if we cannot get this resolved.

I won't be able to help you, but it is a bit unclear what you are saying....

RR plays 5kFF just fine, but in what? If you can be more specific, i'm sure an answer is coming.

are you saying all material 5kFF plays fine in RCX & PrPro ?
and additionally are you saying that anything 16:9 (5khd, 4khd) does not playback in those sane programs?
**if so, then i think this is the issue that is ongoing and RR has some problem scaling original 16:9 material....

the 5kHD is playing back in RCX, but not playing back in Premiere. I'm not sure about 4kHD, as we shot the commercial material in 5kHD. 5kFF plays just fine in all programs however. So it is just Premiere that we are having problems in.

I've experienced the same on a rocket equipeed mac. Premiere has no 5KHD sequence preset, and seems to just get hung up trying to play 5KHD R3Ds.

This is also how i understand things....the problem is in PrPro and 16:9 material (5k or 4k if i recall).
...and there is no fix either correct?

Ok, well Premiere does play the 5kHD without the ROCKET, but with the rocket, it doesn't play at all.

Sounds like NO FIX at moment....so you have to work w/out your rocket card.
Or you do this one transcoded out to something else from rcx and bring back to PrPro as say dpx or tiff

As a side note, we have no issues with 4KHD, CS6 PPro and rocket, only 5KHD is broken.

Is this only an issue with playback? Does the Red Rocket still work to transcode 5KHD footage?
