  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone shot any sports footage on Epic or Scarlet?

Sports is one of my core genres of production. In online versions of some of my Red One sports footage (HD on down) you can find samples on the Artbeats Gibby Red Footage library at the link below in my signature - surfing, personal watercraft, kayaking, sailing, classic cars, etc..

For an online HD sample of my recent Epic sports footage check out this trailer for the Transworld Snowboarding 2012 Team Shootout. For that I shot in Austria for Nike for three weeks this past April. Several of my shots are in that trailer. Epic is a great camera for sports shooting - lots of resolution choices, lightweight (thus mobile), and high frame rates. Me and my crews have shot several alternative sports over the years with Red One and Epic - surfing, snowboarding, kite boarding, skate boarding, windsurfing, mountain biking, and many more.

BTW - I was heavily involved with the first production of sports with Red cameras as a field producer, director, and cinematographer for a 3-Red One camera production of the ASP World Contest Tour event in December 2007 at Pipeline, on the North Shore of Oahu. We had one camera in a helicopter, one in a water housing shooting right in the lineup, and one shooting on land with long lenses.

Hi Samir, I shoot a lot of sport on my epic. I have covered FA cup finals (football) F1, horse racing and Olympics. I have crudely cut a sports reel of stuff I have shot in the last 3months. Also shot a 5camera shoot out between F65, c500 and my epic recently if which we are awaiting results and that was at a champions league football match at Arsenal.
what is it you would like to know? Or are just curious about how the camera performs? I have lots of stuff I can show you......
I'll post link shortly
all the best

That was great! I was just curious as I am using the Scarlet and just getting started with the RAW workflow and wanted to see if there are any companies related to sports which are using the services of RED shooters. I now realize that like others have mentioned that Scarlet really is the gateway drug to the EPIC. The high frame rates would be great for Sports.
