  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I have a 128gb card that I can't get to mount to the computer. My camera sees it fine and can record and playback clips in camera. But the redmag station does not recognize it at all. I am using the redmag mini usb 3.0 version. I also have a 64gb card that works just fine with the red station. But the red light won't even turn on when inserting the 128gb card.

Anyone ever experience this or hear of this? Any recommended solutions appreciated.

Will the mag reader recognise other mags? No doubt you've tried restarting with the mag in the reader attached , Tried switching out cables and swapping ports. Will the mag mount on another computer?
 
Thanks for the response. The reader does recognize my other card just fine, so i wouldnt think its the reader. I did indeed try other cables. Also tried the firewire port in addition to the usb port. Tried on both PC and mac. It just seems so odd that the camera can still read and write to the card though.
 
Chris, did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am having the same issue. I also tried another reader. That particular Redmag functions normally on camera though, just like yours. It just won't mount on the computer.
 
You could try a Windows PC too, if you have access to one.

Any follow up to this? I've purchased a used 512GB card, and it isn't recognized on my machine. My 3 others RedMags mount just fine. I'm wondering if there's a formatting error or an easy fix that I'm missing.
 
I never ended up sending mine in, I probably should. I just use it for blackshades and storing camera settings now.
 
media manager said the mag unmounted itself several times during the offload. Almost everything was copied. But now it won't mount at all. Any ideas on a fix? I'll take it back to the camera tomorrow and see if it plays on there.
 
Whats up guys

Im having a problema with my red mag 1.8. its turning on but not reading the cards. a Friend borrowed me another red mag and it works with my cards. i have a shooting on the weekend so im pretty worried about that.

I don't know the details, but someone had some luck using red undead to get footage off of my troublesome mag.

Solved my issue!

For anyone on windows, what was happening for me was that at a hardware level the computer was seeing the hardware itself.

It showed on the "safely remove hardware" icon as the 128gb OEM mass storage device

I could also see it under "computer management" > "disk management"

What I did was click "Change drive letters and paths"

Then i assigned it a free drive letter (in my case the "L" drive)

The ssd instantly popped up, and I am copying the files right now, along with praising God!

I hope this helps anyone with a windows based pc
