  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I HATE BRISBANE Domestic AIRPORT !!!!!
WHAT A JOKE ! if anyone needs to pick you up from the airport now, you have to walk for about 500 metres! Up escalators, down lifts, through car parks, down a lift.. through halls, over bridges, down another lift.. (and trying to help hundreds of very lost travellers in the same boat) then out the back of the airport past the 2 parking buildings, now dripping with sweat, or soaked by rain!.. ! Then finally you come to the furthest car park at the airport !!!!!... I feel sorry for anyone that is old, a tiny bit frail, parents with kids... or anyone in a rush, Just forget about having an easy walk out the door straight into a waiting car and off you go. Brisbane Airport have killed that dead. Every other airport in the world has a simple drop of and pickup system... But good Old Brisbane airport managed to screw the global system royally ! Getting dropped off is ridiculous as well. To make things worse as you struggle with your bags up and over the bridges, escalators, completely lost!... You will see 3 very un-used roads now in front of the airport for a few taxis, the occasional bus and limos... But mostly unused and empty.
So to who ever designed this ridiculous airport layout is a complete idiot!!! It just verifies to me and all who visits Brisbane is how back to front and ridiculous the state of QLD is. ! - Brisbane, Please tell Brisbane Airport that they have got it wrong.
 
LOL Tried parking at Mascot international or picking up ?

Reading in between the lines ......you obviously have had "one of those lifetimes" compressed into a day.
 
I do Sydney Airport all the time... It's average but at least you can get out of a car and walk straight in, or get picked up out the front... BRISBANE AIRPORT no way ! It just sucks! They thought they would do something funky a cool ! WRONG !!!!

dont get me started with Brisbane :/ until about two years ago it took you on average 90 minutes from leaving the plane to actually getting out of the airport (international arrivals).
the whole setup of customs, luggage pickup and quarantine was shocking.

the fact that the car-park and the terminal aren't directly connected and you have to go to the carpark ground level first to get anywhere in the terminal is just ridiculous and very Queensland...build first...think later.
 
It's like someone tried to copy Bangkok airport (but smaller), got halfway and was like "eh, good enough"

have you been to the new airport in Bangkok ? its actually pretty amazing I thought.
 
Bankok airport is good if know body there. But when it's busy it's a nightmare.
Was there 4 months ago. Took me 1 & 3 /4 hours to get to the customs dudes. Over two hours to get out. But! That's an international hub , not a tiny domestic airport in a tiny country like Aus. Brisbane domestic airports problem is when you try to leave the airport itself.
 
He he, sorry mate... I have been thru a few similar situations, and unfortunately as you might have seen I don't usually travel lithe, so it was exhausting and boarder lining heart attack at times... Some are design to make the travelers forcefully pass thru sale points, but most of them are purely screwed up designs done in the cheapest way.

Ketch, if you saw my pass port.. (which I flat out get a year out of before running out of pages) I can assure you that after the multitude of airports I pass throughout the world, this Brisbane Airport (my home airport) is a complete joke.
I agree with you, most internationals force you through tax free shopping etc... What Im taking about here is a simple domestic terminal that spits you out into an area were if you have somebody pick you up from the airport, you have to drag your bags about 500 metres or more over many bridges, lifts, halls etc... finally pumping you out the back of the airport. screaming kids, irate mums, sweating business men... complete riot material.

I'm seriously going to do a home video about it. !

HA! I just left a week ago for a two week shoot here in SA and just 'discovered' the same thing now it's opened...oh it was fun having to get my better half to 'double park' as there are less drop off spaces...then lug 3 peli cases, 2 duffles, a tripod and of course over the shoulder bags all by myself to the lift, over a bridge, down a lift, though a hall...then to have a que at Qantas security that extended all the way past the bag drop! I was so bloody stressed by the time i finished at oversize i wandered down to Virgin and walked straight through...albeit a bit sweaty and almost an hour later!
