Hi Folks,

Over the past 2 weeks, we've been performing heavy I/O testing of a family of products and I've come across something that may or may not be common knowledge for Mac users -

When you ingest, disable Spotlight indexing on target drive(s). In our tests, we saw an almost 20% write performance in large data sets by simply adding our target arrays and SSDs to Spotlight's Privacy list.

So, if you're not already doing that, you might want to give it a shot during your next ingest session.

Will do, thanks for sharing Tim.

Does this need to be adjusted every time a drive is connected? For my DIT station, I would love to tell it to just index the Applications folder; that's all I ever use Spotlight to look at. If there's a file I'm looking for, I know exactly where it is already, because, well, I'm DITing. I'm the damn Spotlight, among other things.
