I own a Scarlet and i´m only using redvolts currently. I can´t decide between another 4-redvolts-pack or going with a couple of AB batteries. I like the weight and dimensions of AB batteries, but i dont know much about them. Can anyone please tell which are the best ones for Red cameras? how much run time can you get out of them? Which are the most preferred options in Battery plate, batteries and chargers? Thanks in advance.

On my Epic/Scarlet shoots, I'm using Anton Bauer Dionic HC (or Dionic 90) batteries. With three batteries and a Titan Twin Charger, I can be running pretty much all day, swapping batteries as we shoot. I'd say we get between 70 and 90 minutes on each battery, though I do tend to turn the camera off as much as possible. With the WC or similar back plate, and an AB Battery Plate mounted on it, it's easy to get rigged and ready to shoot.

(Sales alert!)

I've got a charger and two AB batteries for sale over in the "Equipment" forum, in case you're interested.

I've got 6 Dionic HC w a quad charger. I've yet to burn all 6 batts in one day, expensive acquisition, but totally happy with the size, weight, performance.

Fernando. AB Dionic 90s or Dionic HC. The HC is good for steady cams and high power draw gear. If you are only power your epic, save $100 bucks, go with the standard Dionic 90.

I went with HC's for versatility.

OR-
go for V-Bricks instead of AB. Same power/performance (I mean, there all pretty well Lithium-Ion) - but prob MUCH cheaper?? Bigger supply options with V-Brick vs ABs I think. (competition is good...)

I bought 150wt (legal size for airline BTW) Li-Ion Brick WITH charger, FREE shipping (china) for $270. (actually bought 3) (and EACH came with a charger).
-battery display in Viewfinder supported
-D-tap built in
-4 LED charge-state display
-all-day shooting with the 3
-5 hour recharge on the chargers
-hassle free purchase (guaranteed by ebay - which actually works)

I have NOT seen a cheaper Brick offered for sale.

Just a quick note;

I have seen 6 instances of worn V-Mount plates so far this year (usually pin terminal wear or mechanical V-Lock issue) this type of situation
causes strange and erratic behavior with the camera and battery and will confuse operators unless they know to look for it.

This is a pronounced issue on high current draw cameras as the voltage drop can be very high due to poor connection between battery and plate.
Check the battery Positive & Negative pins if you see any distortion / plastic bubbling / bulging in the female pin area contact, your contacts are worn or not aligning properly.

I have not come across any worn Anton Bauer plates in over 5 years, The gold mount/ 3 stud Anton Bauer mount system is just superior to the V-mount system.
