We're shooting a short documentary in Boston on Thurs 27th of Sept and are looking for a cameraman to work with. You will need to be a self shooter with your own gear (Scarlet or EPIC) and lenses.

It will most likely be a 9-10 hour day, including lunch. We will be shooting indoors. Owning or having access to a couple of lights would be a big plus.

We are flying over from the UK on the 26th. Ideally we would like to meet and have a brief chat with you on this day, before the shoot.

This will be a small, intimate shoot and will look great on your reel.
Please email david @ runproductions.tv with your rate and details of equipment. I can then send through some more information on the job.

Thanks.

EDIT. Paid job. Will discuss Insurance details over PM

Right. We're all dying to have a great interview shot for our reel. Talking heads are so hard to get, and they look fabulous! They really are a perfect way to showcase our skills... Just the kind of thing every DP reel needs.

Translation:

Inept production team seeks chump with all of the expensive production gear to work overtime for pizza. Bring your own insurance.

If that is not what you mean to communicate, perhaps a re-write is in order.

Wow. (lol)

Sorry. I don't mean to be harsh, but I am tired of reading so many of these things. IMHO, They belong on Craig's List, not RedUser.

He did say email your rate, and nothing about insurance....so it's usually better not to assume than jump to conclusions. Although you may be right Scott, you may also be wrong and foot in mouth comes with that sometimes....but usually have to wait for the punch line.

Yes, but [paraphrase] email us your rate and we will tell you about the production usually means we have no money for this and we are going to brow beat you with our cause. Worse yet, it follows "will look great on your reel". You've been around the block Johnny. I'm sure you aren't holding your breath for the punch line.

mr positive. We have our own red gear, just didn't want to travel with it. It's a nice piece about 'Craft' thought we'd try US based crew instead of flying out the UK guys. Who said it was talking heads?

Jason, in my market, at least (Southeastern US), when someone posts a project, they are taken much more seriously if they state that it is a paid position, and that they have project insurance.
As you are travelling from another country, you may be looking for a production company (or owner/operator) who carries their own insurance.

While I and many others on this site do regularly have such insurance, we bill for it, as its cost is related to the amount of production we perform each year. If we do not notify our carrier before doing a job, the coverage is not valid.
Some of us may not split that bill into a line item, but it is an overhead cost we must bear.

If your project is unpaid, just say so..

I would also say that personally, I am interested in always having the option to use footage on my personal reel... especially on shoots that have enough budget to pay me and to provide a high enough profile that they will be widely exhibited.
I can count on my thumbs the number of projects in the last 5 years that have not offered that to me.

Conversely, a project that can ONLY offer content for my reel probably can't deliver a project I would want on my reel.

Literally, just did an edit saying 'Paid job'. Insurance still needs to be worked out with Client to make sure it extends to the States. Otherwise very happy to discuss with Shooter. It's PAID, also will be widely exhibited. thanks

Excellent Jason,

Do you see how the posting can be misleading? That was the point. I do wish you the best of luck.
