Here is a really great shoot I got to DP for Red Bull Media House. 4 Epics manned by myself, and fellow Epic owners Milan Spasic, Ryan Young, and Sean Aaron. Brandon Parker was on POV duties and George Peters from Ultimate Arm was operating in the chase car with Claude Merkel who was also up in the Heli. We had a lot of fun trying to keep David Coulthard in the frame as he ripped up the streets at speeds up to 200mph. The sound of the RB7 car coming through the Lincoln Tunnel will forever be ingrained in my soul. We had a great time also with the NYC crew who were awesome! Thanks to Claude Merkel from Red Bull Media house for another amazing job!

Oh wow, that is really great looking! Would love to be there to watch the race next year. How did they control the engine for the Star Spangled Banner? That was crazy, so Red Bull. And RED, too.

Geesh they must sell a lot of Red Bull. :-)

Nice work Mike. The tunnel shots were insane. Nice use of sound design too.

Considering there is more techonolgy in an F1 car than the nasa space shuttle its quite easy for them to do it. haha. When you can rev to 18,000 RPM you have quite the tone to work with. lol

Fun

The Star Spangled Banner was mapped to the car via laptop. It hit the notes pretty clean. I still prefer the Jimi Hendrix version though. Coutour and GoPro were used for the POV. George from Ultimate Arm did really nice work in the tunnel. Was a super fun shoot with a great crew!

It would be a great race if they pull it off. I have my doubts. I was at the other press event where they drove the street cars and even got a ride in one of the police cruisers chasing Vettel and Coultard. Lots of fun!

Now that was freakin awesome!! I wish they would clear the streets for me like that... Damn NY traffic. Great job man!!

Jimi Hendrix was programmed via laptop? Amazing. The things one learns.

Mike-

Looks great! I saw this and emailed Claude at Media House saying "LET ME HELP YOU NEXT TIME!!!" :) I would kill to get that close to the RB7 or RB8.

If you ever need any help in the future, feel free to give me a call.

Nice work Mike. Loved it. But you always put out some pretty sick stuff.

I worked with a guy named Claude Merkel a couple years back on a number of jobs .... Wonder if it's the same Claude?

Hey if you need more hands on this stuff ...... Have Epic will travel! Keep me in mind!

Will do Dave. Must be the same Claude. He always has stuff in the works.
Take care,
Mike

Dave- thats the Claude. I think his official title is "Producer of Moving Images." Not sure if he had anything to do with this project or not.

I worked with him in the past on a piece I put together for a Red Bull drift team sliding up a mountain in Brazil as well as some domestic stuff at Pikes Peak.

I'm sure it is him, although the stuff we shot was not so cool or fun. But it was work none the less.
