howdy,
I'm selling a scarlet, and in hopes of not selling a camera that sits on reduser for weeks on end, and also in hopes of not ripping myself off, what are people actually BUYING used scarlets for (in dollars)? Anyone bought a scarlet lately? what did you pay? Just trying to figure my asking price as I hate wheeling and dealing, and I'd like to have a reference. I was thinking 20-25% off, but I see some scarlets on this site for about 7-10% off! I assume those are the ones that just sit on reduser...but I'd love to know.
thanks in advance,
trey chace

Apparently a bare brain sold for $6250... plus transfer costs.. so.. that meant the seller gave a 36% discount...
buyer ended up with camera brain for about 27% off new costs.. but only a 90 day warrantee... IIRC and no Armor contract option..
I think you'll end up spending another $2500 for needed parts to put a lens on it, and to get it ready to accept media and respond to controls...

diminishes the discount they got to about 22% off... and again.. there's that shortened warrantee...

I do not know what useable packages have traded for...
and I don't know what you are offering in your package

this looks in line with what other brands discount for... in pro gear when it is "like new" lite use, less than a year old
the next year, the drop gets a lot steeper..

Did he mention it only had 41 hours of run time on it :sifone:

As for parts, getting them used helps and equipment insurance negates a warranty. I wish it was 2500 more! I could easily spend another 6k excluding glass and still want a set of CP2's...

I think so, a camera with 1,000+ hours has a lot more wear and tear... It should definitely effect the price...

Agree.. more hours on the clock will usually mean a lot more handling, and scuffing, wear to threads, mounting points, opportunities for connectors to wear and fail, etc...
and lets face it, even though solid state cameras do not get head wear, the electronic components inside our computer cameras decay and eventually reach end of life... and shocks from impacts and vibration (including from fans!) cause solder joints to fail...
the more time the thing is on, the more this wear accumulates..

okay, good info. anyone else bought a scarlet here lately? also, speaking of run hours, where do i find the hours meter on the scarlet?

I just sold a Scarlet-X Canon-mount collection with 33hrs on the brain for 13k. Took about 2 weeks to find a deal and firm it up.

Apparently someone sold my stolen scarlet with 12 hours of use, side handle, ssd side module, eos mount, and smallHD DP4EVF...

...for about a couple hundred bucks a few weeks ago.
