Element 3D Issues....

So I purchased the Element 3D plug-in for After Effects, and it is simply amazing. I think it's one of the best tools for an independent film maker to have so far... but there is an issue.

It is constantly crashing AE. I just don't understand it. Literally everything I do makes it want to crash. I kind of fixed this issue by going real slow and letting it take it's time. So after I got my scene done, I decided to render it out.

It isn't too complex. 3 lens flares, 3 lights, 2 element 3d models, and a couple of adjustment layers...

It won't render out the whole thing at all. I tried 30 times last night.. nothing. Literally every output I tried made AE lock up and crash. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem... It's getting real annoying.

My comp spec is:
Ivy Bridge 3770k
GTX 580
16gb RAM
Asus Z77 Mobo

It's definitely not my system... at least I think not.

Few things to look into:

1. If you have multiprocessing enabled you may want to disable it. If you don't have enough ram for each processor AE will behave like that.
2. Hold Shift- click preferences and that should open up the Secrete tab in Preferences and tell AE to purge memory every 3 frames. That will open up more ram for each process but may slow things down a bit..
3. Also if your in CS6 I've noticed that when the new Disk Cache folder gets full, AE starts to get a little weird so make sure and purge that when it gets close to full. Preferences > Media & Disk Cache > Empty Disk Cache.

Hope that helps.
Elements is a dream come true :)

I got the new update, I don't have multiprocessing on either.

Ill try emptying my Disk Cache. Hopefully that works.

That's Joseph.

Motion blur

Motion blur

Sometime optical flare has issue when you turn on motion blur, try to turn it off and see if it works, I don't know why but it's kind of frustrated sometime...

Also, some plugins have settings where you choose it be rendered with the GPU or CPU. These settings are usually GPU by default, trying setting things to CPU if you can.

For me it won't work for solids larger than 2K. So far I've worked around it by creating a 2K solid and moving it around my 4K frame as needed.

I just found this thread while searching the same topic that I just had an issue with today. I have a 4K comp and the minute I click "same as comp size" or adjust my solid settings to anything above 1920x1080 when Element 3d is already on the solid after effects crashes and I have to restart. Anyone figured out this issue? I have the latest version installed. CS6, 48gigs of ram, Nvidia G-force 570, MAC.
