Rotate Lemo connection on RED Pro 5.0 touch screen?

Hi.

Has anyone been able to rotate the female Lemo connector in the touch screen to make it so the screen can be flipped down while the cable is still plugged in? I'm using the x Nato rail system here, but the problem would be the same regardless. It looks like you can at least loosen the connector with a specialized tool or a couple of screwdrivers, but I don't want to even try if it's not going to help.

I don't think this is possible. Lots of things to go wrong with such delicate wiring. Proceed with caution as it can short out your camera if done incorrectly.

Wouldn't it be great if… That monitor didn't have the base and was just like every other onboard monitor that you could attach with a nova arm? I pretty much hate the swivel base - yet love the touch screen control of the monitor itself. I know this would probably mean that the unit would be thicker and maybe even weigh more, but it would be so much cleaner.

Would be awesome if the right angle could follow the diagonal line of the mounting base. That may cause unnecessary pressure if you were mounting directly to the camera, but in almost every configuration I've used the touch lcd, it would be great.

Yeah, this does it, but beyond being able to leave the cable on I'd like to put it in the case sideways and the straight end wouldn't allow that. On the other hand, if this is my main problem with the Epic I think I'm in pretty good shape.

I use those "old" longer $240 cables on my Epics; I had them as spares for the Red Ones. Never used the short braided ones... too short, too stiff I think; they put too much stress on the camera/LCD connectors from my point of view ... I just left them as spares in case the others fail. The extra length allows you to position the LCD the most convenient way any time. Yes, I know... another $240 to spend. But I think a spare cable is necessary anyway.

Amen to that. Why oh why the swivel base, Red? That could have been a bolt-on attachment. Why run the wiring through there???
