Hi,

just got the Global Media Pro batteries for Red cameras and the QB Switronix V-Mount battery plate. Everything works fine but I can't get the battery percentage to show up. It only says voltage. Does anyone have any trick to get this working (other then buying Red accessories from Red :=)

When I emailed GMP they recommend using only original RED adapters which I guess makes sense but seems kind of odd since GMP doesn't make "original" RED batteries. I guess they should've recommended me Red Bricks instead!

Anyway does anyone have any idea how to get the battery percentage to work?

As long as you're using the correct switronix plate p/n: GP-S-EPIC10 , and the correct batteries from GMP that are specifically for RED like the Li160S-R ( RED batteries have the -R at the end of the part number) you should be fine. It could be the firmware, did you try a different firmware? One the latest release notes it mentions this:

" Camera powered by RED BRICK may display voltage instead of battery capacity on some cameras. "

I'm sure it wouldnt matter if it was a REDBRICK or a GMP battery so it could be the firmware. I've had that happen on my camera and it was just a glitch, after a couple reboots i started getting percentage again. I'm not sure why it says on "some" cameras. I'm curious as to what could be different on some cameras that might cause this.

I did recently install the beta firmware. That might be what's causing it. Too bad the latest one has the same glitch.

Trevor: I don't really need percentage, just thought it was odd when I bought the Red specific batteries. How do I know how much power I've got left? Does the voltage go down all the way to Zero? I thought that only meant on what voltage the camera was powered if that makes sense.

I have the exact same items as you Andreas and I only get voltage to show up as well, no matter the firmware. So It seems its normal. I believe the camera shuts off around 12v, not 100% sure but it was that or a little under it.

I believe the camera goes into low voltage shutoff warning at 11.5v or somewhere around there. It's particularly nice to have voltage readout in this case, so you can have a good idea of how quickly your battery's voltage is dropping and where you're at relative to that cutoff point.

I personally like percentage better. If you know your battery lasts 3 hrs and you're down to 33% you know you have about an hour left, it's hard to guess that with voltage.

So I assume then that the % readout counts 11.5v (or whatever it is) as 0% correct?

Hello Andreas, I too have just received the same items that you have (the items arrived on Friday), and I completely expected the Scarlet to indicate voltage only, however I was pleasantly surprised to see percentage when I powered it up. Therefore, I can only assume it is one of those 'not every camera experiences this' gotcha scenarios. It really isn't much more than a minor inconvenience though - I am sure you will get used to using it with voltage.

Hi Marie,

Good to hear that your set up works! Who knows, maybe it will pop up with a firmware update one day! Voltage works fine for me! So far I haven't had any problems with my scarlet what so ever so I guess it was bonus to happen something sooner or later!

Thanks all for your input!

Andreas
