I am in the middle of prepping for water housing shoot with a wide lens Im considering the sigma 8-16mm on the Epic shooting at 2k . Does anyone have experience of this lens on the Epic/ Scarlet whilst shooting at lower resolution? I'm keen to know if its worth my while having a lens port constructed for it in my housing?

Jon, I have never shot with it, but reports i hear are not stunning. AND, based on lenses out there i think you have FAR better choices.
Tokina 10-17
Tokina 11-16
....to name but a few.

But WHAT are you shooting and is this for an all round u/water setup or specialized? What housing? or Custom?

Best results would be by using Super 16mm glass if possible.

The crop on any DSLR glass on 2K would not look as crisp if you go that route.

I have that 8-16 Sigma. The difference between 11mm on my Tokina and 8mm on the Sigma is huge.
We are talking Wide. Does not fully cover 5K. Fine at 4k.
It's a recent optical design, and IMO is as good as the heralded Tokina, which is ancient. Sure not as fast.
Can't wait to try it on the black magic camera. The BM cam would make a good underwater cam, if it floods, you only lose $3K of camera !

Thanks guys, the shoot I'm covering will be more of a surf housing style shoot with epic onboard an extremely fast and wet Americas cup catamaran . I'm expect exiting alot of crash n splash which is why I want to slow the frame rate down for all the crew action when it gets hairy :-) I'm keen to take in a pretty wide view from onboard and I'm keen to see what the 8-16 gives in in field of view @2k and 5k compared to the 16-35.
