Does the Pro IO module provide a continous TC output? Right now, as I understand it, the Epic/Scarlet only accepts TC... is that correct? I'm trying to find a way to make the Scarlet and a 552 Sound Devices mixer/recorder play nice with the new TC Buddy Tx/Rx system: http://www.timecodebuddy.com

The problem is that neither device can output TC, so we have to use workarounds :(

Thanks for your help.

Yeah it does, but its not that simple. I want to use the TC Buddy "Transmitter" on the camera ($400 and way smaller), but it does not generate TC. It only transmits the signal it is being fed to the TC Buddy "Master". The "Master" then sends the TC to the sound mixer/recorder and also sends the TC out over WiFi to ipads and iPhones. Pretty rad idea. In this case, there is no signal coming from my Scarlet, hence my problem. My goal is to have a rock solid TC sync between the camera and the mixer, while providing an accurate TC slate for all the other cameras on set that don't have TC. We sometimes are shooting with an Epic, Scarlet, AF-100, GH2, 5D and GoPros all at the same time! The TC Buddy system would be an absolutely perfect solution for this situation if I could just get the Scarlet to output TC. Like I said, there are a million workarounds, but if that Pro I/O module outputs TC than I'm sold :)

you can grab the manual from the red support page.
I have been able to get timecode in and out from the pro I/O module using the appropriate cables to my ambient clockit boxes and my recorders...

This subject came up during a pre-prod meeting.

What I got out of the meeting was that the RED camera (in general?) has issues syncing with sound recording devices using Time Code.

Cant I do this without using a PRO I/O module?

Any cheaper workflows to get this to work or should I just count on Script Sync/Plural Eyes type options (NLE)?
