I went by Element Technica this afternoon to say hello to Steven and Hector. They showed me their new handheld rig. It was brilliant. Absolute genius. It is lite, has a curved shoulder pad, and extensions for the left and right handle.
They told me that it will have a remote on off switch on the handle. What was brilliant about this rig was the pivot point where the shoulder pad connected to the plate (the plate will slide in to the Red bottom plate). ET has made a ball joint connection that can conform to the camera operator's shoulder. It adjusts not only for the slope of the shoulder but also the operator's line of sight. It was the best handheld rig I have seen, ever. When I looked at it today I thought, why didn't someone invent this 25 years ago? Finally we are going to be able to put our bodies in a comfortable position when we go handheld. These ET guys are good. Also, it will have that slick ET look that conforms with the elegance of the Red Camera. When will it arrive? Soon.

ET has a bunch of new toys coming our way.

Stephen,

Please make the plate to slide NOT into the RED bottom plate, but into Red Bridge plate (so that you can quickly switch between dovetail and the above mentioned shoulder pad).

I think there are more people with Element Technica's Bridge plates along with dovetails already attached to their cameras than with Red bottom plates (at least the most redusers I know). And I am sure most people would prefer not to fiddle to remove ARRI Bridge plate and attach red bottom plate with 4 screws (not practical at all).

I might be wrong, but just thought to express my humble opinion.

Maybe you could develop both options…

Please make it usable with the ET Arri 19mm Bridgeplate, i don´t want to screw on the Red Bottomplate or the Shoulder Plate on my RED ever again.

thanks
Manuel

I believe that the ET rig interfaces with their bridgeplates.

I hope so. It would be nice to go from tripod to hand held easily, and like someone else mentioned, a lot of people don't use the Red bridgeplate.

ET, please let this work with your bridgeplate.

I agree....just a few seconds to go from hand held to tripod or tripod to hand held. That would be perfect.

When I mentioned that it would "attach to the bottom plate" I am pretty sure Steven would make it to attach all plates. Don't take my post as the bottom line. What Steven and Hector showed me was absolutely beautiful. The amazing part of the rig was how they made it configure to the different shapes of the human body. I was impressed.

Stephen just confirmed that "the hand held rig is compatible with the Arri-style base for the RED One NOT the RED base. It is actually compatible with any Arri or Arri-style base/bridgeplate."

I am a very happy customer!

So am I. Great news!
When will it be available?

I can practically feel the money getting sucked out of my wallet.

Yeah. The only reason I still use the RED Base/Dovetail is for the handheld application -- crummy though the shoulder dovetail is for that. If this one interfaces with the ARRI base, I'll never need to put those on the cam again. :)

Stephen was kind enough to send me a sneak peak photo of the Rig, interfacing with there ET Arri 19mm Baseplate, and it looks amazing :)
Spending money never was so much fun since the last few months ;))

Slowly I am beginning to wonder if I actually need to buy the Base Production Pack...

Would be great if this handheld configuration would also become available via the Red Store.

Exciting times!

Again, and again. And over again. Thanks Red. Thanks ET. Thanks Birger. Thanks P+S.
