  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A little Scarlet music video with Kowa Anamorphics

Wide screen aspect ratios look great on a 16x9 screen I dont get where you're coming from Brandon, it's and aesthetic and it's one a lot of people like. It doesnt need to play at a theater to look good.

Awesome Job. Cool idea with people holding and moving the lights in the background Really adds dynamics and depth. At first i thought it was some kind of intellibeam or something of that nature. Very creative.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone. I'm hoping the label will release a 1080 master in the near future. I will be sure to locate a copy for my own archival. Its certainly possible to finish in 4k, but I doubt a label will spend the money to do so.

Anamorphic is not just wide screen. a 2x has more info per inch in the vertical than the horizontal. It is an optical quality, not just cropping standard lenses.

Joshua,

The video rocked! I really like the use of the moving spots in the back ground, it really keep the flow of the images going with the music. I also spotted little short camera movements(quick) with the music. Was that done in camera, or in post? Either way, it's a great effect.

Nice work mate!! I love your work and I dare say a clip like this is bubbling under RAY KAY's production values which is a dam good thing, pure pop looking aesthetics.

I wouldn't worry about some of the people who feel the need to question (and poke fun at) your creative judgement, it's uncalled for. They should just congratulate you for brilliant work, I don't get it.

Was wondering if you could give me some tips on my music video, like yours, i was asked to have some rain shots and some factory shots (ignore the awful live dj shots I was cornered by the artists to brand them) so yours is the ideal version of I would have loved mine to look. Mine was shot on a 5d and 2 lights, so the productoin value isnt there like yours, but even ifyou could pm me some tips i would love to hear how I could make mine look more like a real MV instead of a crappy budget job, which in reality is what it is.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread, happy for you to PM me if you have a spare moment?

Joshua,
Looks awesome man!

What settings did you use on the TV Logic to properly view the squeezed image?

Brilliant work?...seriously, BRILIANT WORK.....cummon, man.

Like your video, it's just another "would be" rapper wearing dark glasses indoors and gesturing madly....BRILLIANT..hardly..DERIVATIVE and PREDICTABLE...TOTALLY.

You seem to be dead set on ruining this thread. Why take part in it? Personal attacks on his creative choices aren't something the mods here enjoy to see.

Zac, if all you're looking for are positive reviews of your work or anyone else's, ask your Grandma.
Seriously, you may have chosen the wrong line of expression.
By it's very nature, the art of film thrives on critique and discourse,Sir.

You must be a blast at parties.

At least be constructive in your criticism, or post your own work so you can get some.
