First Stolen Scarlet?

My home was broken into yesterday while on a shoot (ironically while I was on a red shoot using a different Scarlet)

I suppose keep an eye out for #2350 if you happen to stumble upon an used Scarlet for sale.

Did I perhaps become the first Scarlet theft victim? :frown2:

Sorry to hear, Daniel! Do make sure to check on ebay and craigslist. Dumb people do dumb things, so make sure you check out every scarlet which turns up on ebay.

And BTW sad but true, you're not the first...

Daniel, I noticed it was stolen in the SF Bay Area, I'll send out a few e-mails to some locals who rent Scarlets to keep an eye out for a "too-good-to-be-true" rentals or purchases. Sorry to hear about the loss...

I spoke w/ my RED Rep earlier today and advised him of the issue. Theft is covered under my insurance, after a hefty deductible.
Barring any unforeseen problems, I should hopefully (knock on wood) be able to order another RED camera in a month.
Worse case scenario, I may have to rent RED cameras for a while...

I found what looks like evidence of the Scarlet being dropped/tossed (red shaped dent on wood flooring near storage cabinet)
Even in the unlikely scenario that I recover it, It's most likely is going to need servicing.

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. We are proud of who we are and the investments we have made in the future.
Unfortunately, Real names on the user site let the bad guys know who they can target.

I remember that when M0006 disappeared from our collective experience - there was much speculation that how we posted our activities could work against us.
We were all living that dream through Mark, and however short the moment was - the gasp of pain throughout our community was felt around the world.

Publicity can be a double-edged sword.

In my case it appears to be a random "pro" home burglary committed during "weekday work hours".


They disassembled the deadbolts.
Went through all draws/cabinets/boxes in a "sweeping" fashion.
Stole only 2 to 3 things of the highest appearing value from each disturbed room in the house.
Outside of the RED Stuff, they took things like the TV w/ remote, mac book pro, Ipad, PS3/Wii Game systems, (empty) locked case, large folder box of paperwork (title/deeds), and an 8 lbs broken old 250mm lens.

In terms of the RED gear, they left the batteries and power cords/cables behind

The insurance company looks like it should refund a good chunk of the lose, but you know how "insurance" always seems to find a way not to provide...

for now I'm assuming the worst, hoping to be OK, and keeping my fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear, my scarlet got stolen April 2nd. I even saw it on ebay. The police could not get hold of it either. ;-( . I hope that Red at least nails down the owners of stolen cameras, by asking for their adress.

Anyway, what a pity I know how it feels !
