  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Flip Out Monitor Arm for Epic & Scarlet - just what the doctor ordered!

That's nifty. I'd love to know the build quality (and price). Looks like it relies on a few friction-based joints that are hopefully high enough quality to prevent slippage. Let us know how it turns out!

Used it on a shoot this week. Simple, straight forward and solid. In studio I tilt the arm up to a comfortable position. For run and gun/hand held I lower it to be perfectly in line with my eyesight. You have the ability to slide it forward (away from you eyes) or closer. You can also adjust it up, down, back, forward to make room for your follow focus. I have the action bottom plate and it is even designed to make room for the follow focus hooks that are on their bottom plate. Once I finish a shoot I leave the whole arm attached to the camera and monitor, fold it up and slide it in the case (cables still connected) and I'm ready to go at the next location without rebuilding everything. I also slide a protective cover over the screen, but the way the arm is designed I don't think the screen will ever touch the side of the camera anyways. Two thumbs up!

What's the advantage of using this over a NOGA arm?

I have one now. The inspiration was to use it like a flip out LCD. You need the bottom plate like wooden camera's for it to mount. I tried it on the top plate with the monitor hanging upside down, which works well, except RED doesn't have the firmware yet to flip the monitor. Its about the same price as a Noga but functions more appropriately for an LCD.
