Now that I am addicted to the AF feature for static takes I would like to propose a new focus mode to make the AF more useful in a typical shot with moving talents.

When preparing a scene one usually defines marker positions for the actors that define their movement during the scene. For example you tell the actor to start at position A then walk over to position B and finally continue to position C. Another example during a closeup would be - the actor's head is in position A, then he leans forward to position B and finally going back to position A.

Each position (A, B, C, …) has a different distance to the camera and therefore needs a different lens focus position.

What I would like to be able to do is the following.

Setting Markers

* Select a new "Markers" Auto Focus Mode in the AF menu
-- When selecting this mode, the A, B, C, D buttons on the Side Handle and RedMote get a new "marker" functionality assigned
-- Only Center Zone needs to be supported

* Pressing and holding one of the A, B, C, D buttons
-- Triggers the AF to be performed and the distance value is stored for that marker

* Pressing one of the A, B, C, D buttons
-- Recalls the stored distance value for this marker and sets the lens focus accordingly
-- Setting the lens focus between the markers (pulling focus) is done via an S-curve to ease-in and ease-out the lens focus movement
-- The default focus pulling time is 1 second. This default should be adjustable in the settings menu
-- Marker specific focus pulling time is adjusted on the RedMote

Define Focus Pulling Time on RedMote

* A new Menu Page 7 is added to the RedMote showing focus details and to expose marker A, B, C, D details
-- Marker Display can be switched between pulling time and distance
-- Pulling time can be adjusted in 0.5 second steps with the scroll wheel
-- See attached screen mockups

Suggested improvements to the workflow above are welcome. Future extensions could be to actually record the Focus Pulling Time for the individual markers somehow. Also, I would disable the current A button behavior to loop through the Auto Focus Modes as it is confusing and hard to tell which mode you are currently in - normally you select a mode and stick with it I guess.

If something like this is already planned or has been suggested on the forum please ignore my post - a quick research didn't bring up anything like this.

Thanks,
Mike
