  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I have a new i7-3930K CPU. Anyone else notice this? Whether I try to play back at Full (very choppy) or 1/2 resolution it's always around 33%.

Brandon,
You can adjust the CPU usage in the Preferences window of RCX.
Preferences -> Playback -> "Maximum Memory usage" adjust to what ever percent you like.

Isn't that for RAM use? It's set to 85% (I have 32gb or RAM).

I see that under Effects there is a slider for CPU use, but that's not for Playback. Just Effects, right? It's set to 80%.

Are you experiencing a slow down or issues in playback or just curious why your CPU usage no more than 33%?

All of the above. Maybe RCX-Pro is not optimized for these new CPUs? I know that is the case with some programs/games.

When I was checking this before I had no post effects turned on. When I have post effects turned on (Alchemy Group, Saturation, Unsharp Mask) the CPU use maxes out at around 40%.

Are you using a Red Rocket? Is the playback cache full?

No rocket. Just checked and when the cache is full the CPU use is 1% (paused). When it's not it's between around 25% and 40% (not more). This is at half resolution.

I've noticed this as well monitoring with process explorer and was wondering if there's any other way to get Redcine-x to utilize more ram/cpu power? I just built a new sytem, running a 6 core cpu and tons of ram, 64gb. After effects and premiere both seem to use the extra juice when rendering or exporting clips. I'm finding that no matter what setting i try on Redcine-x its only using 40% or less when exporting. I'm hoping there's a fix available soon for this!

You can change the number of "Max Simultaneous Export Jobs" from 1 to 2 or 4
And in export panel just use RED line only
you will make full use of you CPU

and what's more
where you transcode R3D file to where is also a limited element
