Hi, i'm a noobie in RED ONE cameras, actually, i've only work on Sony z7 with the standard lens. So, we're goin to buy one of this and we have no idea of lens, lights, accesories... Can anybody help us with a standard kit of lenses, the right mount (if it needed), a good set of lights (couse i've noticed that mysterium X need so more light).
One other thing, the RED ONE doesn't have any package like the EPIC or SCARLET... what do we need to have a RED ONE with all their toys?

Thanks!

Good luck!

Just curious as to why you choose R1 over Scarlet?

You'll get off cheaper with Scarlet that comes with an active Canon mount, which probably would be the cheapest way to get you started, if you have no cinema gear from before.

i just bought my first red, a scarlet, but i think i can help. i was in your shoes not that long ago. it can be daunting.

you should call RED and ask for the bomb squad, customer service, you will be assigned a rep.

you will need something to control the camera, but i think you can do that through the back of the camera. you will need a monitor to view the image. on the scarlet/epic the touch screen controls the camera and displays an image.

you can subsitute the view finder if you like. i would plan on getting one red viewing choice, so you leave your hdmi/hd sdi out available for a client/director monitor.

but you can use 3rd party monitors if you want.

the scarlet is only available with a side ssd for media and i highly reccomend it. i would plan on getting 2 64gb cards. they will store 30 mins of 4k footage.

you will need a card reader, a red station 1.8 size, any model with 1.8 in it works. over firewire 800 a full 64gb card takes about 17 mins to download, so 2 will keep you shooting continuously. i would reccomend the 4 pack of 64gb cards

you will need a way to power the camera, get the AC adapter first and then look at batteries unless you are sure you need them. the red batteries (bricks) for the red one or red volts (for scarlet/epic) are expensive and dont last that long. look for plates/adapters from woodencamera.com and batteries from anton bower, idx or similiar. these cameras suck so much power!

hopefull you have nikon lenses as i believe there is a nikon lens mount for the red one. they might be a canon ef 3rd party mount for it.

i got the scarlet with an canon ef mount as i am a photographer and have a massed a collection of lenses.

disclaimer... i may be wrong on a few small things here and there, i am just figuring this out as well, but have had luck this far.

i've been reading and I think we're going to buy a EPIC - M package, the Scarlet is a good choice but we have the oportunity to get an EPIC - M Package. Thanks anyway!

In spanish we dont use "h" for the that phoneme you use in inglish, the "h" of you its our "j". The forum's on the web should be on spanish, its so much more specific and avoid bad understood.
Anyway, thanks for the info!

Cool! Did not know that, thanks much!
