can i get a MOD to fix the spelling in the poll Word reduser Q2 thanks

it seems like paying would entail a new reduser altogether. Which I'm not entirely opposed to...change can be good.

but it seems like the old reduser is a thing of the past, a moment in time, and we need to brainstorm a better reduser experience which serves rather than frustrates the community...we don't need a paid "old reduser" - whatever that even means - it's time to evolve a better user experience.

No. I use this site mostly as a support forum. As such, and as an owner, I don't think I should have to pay more for it. I agree that the influx of nonsense has been huge and a way to distill the good stuff would be helpful. A sub section where posters are qualified and others are read only sounds like a welcome idea, but I find the implied suggestion that one user is or would be a more valuable member of the community than another based upon camera ownership or their ability or willingness to pay for access patently offensive and equally absurd. Worse still is the suggestion that the less educated and experienced users should not even have read access to the wisdom shared on this forum. Should Red be profiting from the experience shared by users? I appreciate that a forum such as this costs money to run, and I thank Jim, Jarred and Red for creating and maintaining it. Thanks also to the Mods.

People used to extoll this forum as a place where you might learn a lot. Discriminating against those who have the most to learn would be harmful IMHO.

A big thanks go out to all who have helped me learn about Red and craft by participating here. I try always to be a student and subscribe to a Socratic method. That means that I rely on the valuable exchange of question and answer between the teacher and student. The best teaching is not pedantic, especially where creatives are concerned.

Thank you my teachers for your patient corrections of my errors and answers to my questions. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. In return I will continue to strive to make a useful contribution of my own on my journey of self-improvement. Now that I too will be shooting more Red material I hope to have more to offer here.

Thanks also to my fellow students for your questions and sharing your mistakes, as I have learned far more from them than all of my own experiences combined.

This site has been invaluable in my Red research as it was my primary source of technical data, troubleshooting and simple enthusiasm. The forum sold me on the camera aNd the ompany as much as the camera itself. I think that is important to note.

No, I would pay for a new RU though.

"Old" sounds like the current politicians pitching the glory years of America . . . The 1950's

I'm really thinking that an Epic owners only setting would be best. Others can look, only registered owners can post. That would be fair to all. Maybe have a noobie forum as part of it for intelligent questions. I found the forums to be very valuable before I received my Red One, and even more so before my two Epics arrived.
My two cents. Plus a vote for subscription at (almost) any cost is OK by me.

I think maybe if you buy a $30k + camera the membership might come with it..no? Just a thought..

Just was thinking, if Reduser became segregated into owners and non owners, I'll bet in no time the Epic owners would demand a separate forum for Epic movie makers so they wouldn't have to put up with the "noise" from those arrogant Stills shooters.:smilielol5:

No revolution shall be deemed a success until the formerly oppressed assume the positions of the former oppressors

I looked, but it doesn't seem I can change it...

...For the record, I don't think charging admission is going to solve any problems.
