I have a red and it has been refusing to boot up once in a while. I thought it was no big deal until today when it would not boot up at all. Only the fan starts. The camera is stationary on a tripod today and was shooting fine. We shut it down for a lunch break and after about 45 minutes it would not boot up. Tried several times to power down and then reboot(this has worked in the past)
Anybody have any ideas?? Or is this going to cost me a fortune;-(???
Thank you

have you tried to remove all the cables and recycle the power i.e. pressing the power on button for a few time and try again?

It is a red 0ne build version30.7.0 It will not boot at all only fan runs and the menu screen remains white only. I have done direct power and battery power with and with out cables attached. Still no luck.
Is there a fuse that is burnt? Is there access to it by me? is the cpu crashed? can I fix or replace?
I have a shoot coming up in 5 days. I NEED to solve this please help.
Thank you

Hopefully you don't have the same problem I did, but I had a scenario where my camera wouldn't boot. I can't recall if the fan was coming on, but the screen in the back would light up but remain blank. Turned out my motherboard was shot, and the repair cost about $5700 :-(

And experience tells me that you're best off getting on the phone with RED, getting an RMA # and getting it in FedEx asap. In the four years I've owned RED products, I've had 4 dead camera experiences (3 R1, 1 Epic), and when it was dead, it was dead and not user-servicable. My experience is also that you should expect a 5-10 business day turn around from RED, so plan for a replacement body for your shoot in 5 days. Hopefully, I'm wrong on all of the above counts, but that's been my experience.

So far I am not happy with RED tech. When i had a hard drive crash last year i took it apart and saw that it had hitachi drives in it(about $89 each) but when i replaced them I did not know how to code them or format them to get them to work. So I was forced to send it to REd where they charged me over $700 !!!!! to change out hitachi hard drives, plus shipping.
Today I was on the phone with tech support around 2pm California time and the tech guy told me to send an email!!! I am on the phone with him already. I told him I have a small shoot Saturday and need to solve this. He offered no solutions or suggestions other than how to email!!! I left my phone number supposedly someone was supposed to call me back, but by the end of the day...no one called. This is terrible. I am really frustrated with RED service.
So Can anybody out there offer some ideas?

That's... bizarre. If you replaced with identical model drives it should have worked.

There's a little button on the controller PCB inside the Red Drive; did you push it? Push it while the drive is being powered up and it force-reformats the drive 'correctly' for Red, if I recall correctly...

I have the same problem with my red one. After turning on the camera I have a blank lcd but it has light on it. If I try to turn off the camera it stays turn on and I find it interesting. I only can turn it off by pulling out tha cable from the connector plug (I use DC supply, no battery). And if I push the record button the fan turns on for several seconds and then turns off. Could it be a problem of the motherboard? CPU? If yes, which one? Or a firmware problem?
