Hello everyone :)

I´ve had my Scarlet for 2 weeks now, and haven´t been able to use it yet and need some tips/help to make this thing work.
I have been mailing back and forth with RED but we have not resolved it yet, so I wondered if anyone else has experienced something similar and/or knows what to do...

I did not buy the 5" monitor (silly me) and only have an HDMI-monitor at the moment.
I got a force-preset from my bomb squad to enable HDMI from start up and was told to erase the redmag in the MAC OS extended format, put the preset folder on the redmag, put it in the camera and power it up. I did this but the camera does not seem to recognize the SSD or something like that.
The fan speeds up, the little LED on the SSD module blinks rapidly red and so does the red REC LED on the side of the camera. This goes on forever (its been on for up to an hour with nothing new happening)
I have tried to repeat this procedure with no luck. (even formatted the SSD in FAT 32 with no luck)
I have also tried to upgrade the software to 3.0.0 but the same thing happens (fan on and red LED´s blinking fast, forever)
Even when there is nothing on the SSD, I just get the fan and red LED´s...
Without the SSD everything seems normal. (PWR LED is green and when the side handle is attached can se graphics on it and use the autofocus)

Did I erase too much of the redmag? Is that possible? There is 2 options when erase an SSD… The main folder called Oxford Semiconductor LTD and it´s subfolder (Now called “no name”) I erased the main folder (Oxford Semiconductor LTD)… Was that bad and if so how do I fix it? :)

My machine recognizes the redmag as an external disc but RED Watchdog does not recognize it as a RED Volume.
What does the rapidly red blinking mean? (I the Ops_guide v3.0 it says “LED red fast blink = recording, 5% media left” but that is obviously wrong :)

Anyone knows what to do? :001_unsure:

Best
Mathias

AFAIK the SSDs do not use Mas OS Extended (HFS+) format. Try to use MS DOS File System (FAT) instead.
If that does not work, you have to find a way to format the redmag with your camera or any other camera using the same firmware version...

Solved!

Solved!

I think I love you Mr Skibbe!!! :) Two weeks of mailing Red back and forth did not solve what you did in 30 minutes!! So MS DOS File System (FAT) was the solution :emote_happyhappy:
Now I can finally shoot something :)

I could use some help as I'm starting to pull my hair out.
I found this thread as I'm having the exact same issue as OP (first time boot with HDMI monitor only, blinking red light). I thought finding this thread would solve it but I'm runnnig into the next problem, I can't access Redmag via Red Station on Win7. Win7 recognizes as OEM mass storage but how do I access it at all?
I feel like an idot, I also can't find anything using the Reduser search ( http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=004538409993496633550:nmlowi0wk0c ) so any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you Mathias!
I formatted, working now. I updated firmware to 3.0 but still no signal through HDMI, I think I'll have to request an HDMI force-preset as well.
Thanks!
