I've got my RED ONE packed and ready to ship to RED Hollywood, but I'm concerned about the risk involved considering that it's not only worth the $17,5 I paid for it, but it would cost me 25k to replace it with a new RED ONE, and most importantly, it's worth closer to $35k-40k since I need it to qualify for the trade in program.

Any advice on carriers, insurance, etc? At this moment, even though the risk of loss or damage seems very unlikely, I'm still considering just driving it down from the bay area, dropping it off and turning around (about 14 hours round trip). Uncomfortable and inconvenient, but at least I'd be sure it got there in one piece and on time. Cost is also a factor, and driving round trip would cost me about $120.

THANKS! :)

Just get a nice pelican with pluck foam. Nestle it in tightly ($150 off amazon). Then wrap it in bubble wrap and a bigger box. Then put a "Declared Value" on the FedEx for what it costs to replace if it's broken. Declared value insurance will cost about $200.

Ive already got it wrapped up and ready, im just concerned about it getting lost on the way there. I read about the various insurance policies from different carriers and have heard a lot of stuff about people getting their claims rejected. And even if they did pay, I'd still be out a red one, and there by out an epic.

Has anyone shipped something as expensive as a RED ONE and had to file a claim? What happened? Anyone know if one carriers insurance policy is superior to another?

Thanks!

1- I insured my REDone for $40,000 with Kat. Wong Francis L. Dean & Associates(626)379-6280.
2- I used pack and ship service for USD48.00 from authorized UPS dealer.
