Is it ok to remove top vent from epic?

Is it safe to remove top vent on epic and keep it off? Im mounting a handle from my red one and my fingers can't wrap around the handle with the vent attached.

Yes. You have to remove it to put any top cheese plate from Red, Wooden Camera, etc.

what if I'm not putting a top plate on and just leaving it open? Im mounting the handle to the from two screws.

Its only safe if you don't drop anything in there and if the heatsink fins aren't touched. They are thin metal and will bend easily. I would consider a riser or a top plate for long term use.

Just got the DSMC Tactical Top Plate and am trying to remove the EPIC-X vent cover but wondered if anyone could tell me what size hex head I need to remove the screws. The heads I have are either too small or too big.
