I am hoping for some suggestions...
I am designing a kit that will be very portable, possibly carry-on luggage size, and not be battery powered, primarily for interviews.

the following is my wish list

2 bounce reflector discs one silver and one translucent
Reflector holder
Norman boom attachment
2 Felloni Bicolor 30* 1x1 LED panels
1 ENG SOLA on camera Fresnel
1 Rifa 55 kit
( I already have a chimera xs which I will slap onto an omni)
4 Matthews stands, two very compact and two mid size.
plus a couple of sand bags
With a Portabrace bag for the Litepanels,

The only thought I was thinking of adding a Brute 9 instead of one of the Felloni's as it seems rather durable.
Also was throwing around the idea of the 4light from "thelight" it is a spanish company which makes a really interesting color adjustable light panel that both powerful, robust and of course expensive.

thanks

Any thoughts... and please criticism too.

I'm not sure any Matthews stands are small enough to fit in a carry-on. A cheap hard-shell golf club case works great for several light stands & a tripod, and many airlines have more lenient policies for overweight/oversize/excess baggage if it appears to be "sports equipment."

I have cheap "5-in1" bounces in several sizes: the collapsible frame is covered in translucent fabric, and reversible zip-on covers provide silver/gold/white/black. I also bought a bunch of empty saddlebag-type sandbags with zip-up weight pockets, which I fill with bags of rice, dried beans or even gravel after reaching my destination.

I won't comment on your LED choices as I have no personal experience with any of them.

PS: Welcome to REDuser!

I'd say you need something with some more punch and versatility. LEDs are great if you are running on batteries, but not that versatile and very low output. If you always light the same way and know that it will be enough for you then great, but what if you need to throw light on a background? Those LEDs each put out about the same as a 150w tungsten fresnel, which is not much especially if you are fighting any ambient light. I'd have a lot of trouble justifying a $1300 1x1 led panel that puts out so little light unless you need battery power or daylight balance, but you said you don't need to run on battery power and your two largest lights are tungsten. If it were my money I'd probably take a 250w lowel pro light for $130 over the $1300 led since its smaller, lighter, easier to control, and puts out more light in most situations especially given the ability to spot/flood the light.

thanks for your input... keep it coming. I am hoping to be cable free as much as possible. I know that is a dream... but it makes everything a little faster and easier.
Is there an LED with a touch more punch you could suggest? I am intrigued by the LEDZ brute 9, they claim a 500w tungsten equivalent, but i have to take that with a grain of salt.

PS i like the golf bag!!! it would nicely double as a sachtler holder... too.
