Great point Jason, I love the Tokina, and it's on my list, but I feel like the Zeiss will match the other Zeiss' in my kit. Great Spinal Tap reference, by the way

Im a huge ZE fan, having a few myself and growing but here I say just get the VERY much cheaper Tokina 11-16. Will do 15 then 'go up to 11' And happily full frame on 5K.
Less than 1/3 the price and pack your band-aids sharp

I really have to get behind all this...

Three weeks ago I tried out two ZE lenses on a 7D and a 5D; the 2/35 and the 2/21.
they looked disappointingly soft, at f2.0, compared to my "cheap-o" 50mm 1.4 canon.
At around 5.6 everything looked really great again but at 2.0 it was just a blur.

I was really excited to try them but was madly disappointed. That's why I asked for a second one and got the 21mm. Same thing.
The built is awesome, but the images weren't. Is it that the 1.4s are that much better? Or was it really just experience a bad coincidence?

Jason, you already showed me a lot of tricks in all those fxphd lessons.
And now you even helped me save a lotta cash ;-)
If anybody else would have recommended a tokina over a zeiss i would have ROFL'ed.
But if someone like you says «get the tokina» I'll happily follow without askin' any
further questions.

just cancelled my ZEISS-preorder.
Thanx Mate.
