  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Focus Hook on Epic

I'm using a small, stick-on picture hook from a dollar store:

Works perfectly!

Hey Rory,

A bit expensive if you are solely looking for a focus hook, but the ActionProducts Riser Plate (used to adjust industry standard spaced accessories for RED) has a focus hook on both sides, and can also be purchased with or without the Audio Adapter (Pro XLR audio inputs) or 15mm LW Rodmount (15mm rod mounting + hides 3.5mm mic cords/plugs).

Any other options out there? I'm surprised that there's not more after market options (or a RED option, for that matter). Most designs seem to be incorporated as part of another piece (like the action products riser above). . . but for those of us who already have all the kit they need - and are just missing a little hook - seems like some manufacturer could come up with something that would sell well. . .

Justin, how do you screw this plate to the bottom of EPIC?
It doesn't have any through holes only holes with the tap.
Bottom of EPIC has also holes with tap, you can't stack tap on the tap hole on the same screws?!

Andrew

Just had these made for all my cams. (Not fully pulled out in this pic but folds flat and takes cloth or steel tapes.

Start selling these ;) or get viewfactor or someone else to market them ;)

Hey Andrew,

The holes that mount the riser to the EPIC/Scarlet are indented off the bottom of the plate and do have some threading. When mounted to the camera, no screws stick out from the bottom of the plate, so the plate can sit flush on top of a bridgeplate (or other accessories) without any side to side movement. Let me know if there are any other questions! Thank you

I've been working on these in my spare time. Made of durable plastic, mounted on the side-handle. Nice for clearing the mattebox, out of the DP's way, etc.

PM or email me ( jared.c.rogers@gmail.com ) if you're interested.

Very cool.

How is this secured to the Side Handle?
Are there any other locations you could mount it?

No, it's fairly custom for the side handle. It slides in and sort of snaps into place due to a small ridge. Essentially it fits like a glove, taking advantage of the material.

If you ever want it out, just gently grab it with some pliers, or a binder clip.
