I just had a weird thing happen and was wondering if anyone more educated than I am could enlighten me...

I was happily editing when suddenly my video card driver crashed. Even though I've never had this happen before I didn't really think much of it, but then a bit of music caught my attention... My phone had crashed and it was the startup music. What are the odds of my phone and video card crashing at the exact same time? My phone wasn't even plugged in so it couldn't have been power related. Is it possible that a cosmic ray was the culprit? How big is the area of these things anyway? I live in high altitude, so that could contribute. If it was, I guess I must've been zapped pretty good myself :)

Cheers.

Highly likely you just got zapped by a shower of muons. You probably get a couple more mSv than most of us if you live at altidude anyway. Good luck with your extra toes ;)

Hehehe. Talk about the butterfly effect...

A star becomes a supernova millions of years ago.

Particles are sent hurling through space with lots of energy for millions of years.

Some of those particles manage to get here and crash my gpu and phone at the same time.

Redusers have fun with the incident.

;)
