I received my scarlet last week and did my first shoot today. Everything seemed to work great but I couldn't get clips to playback. Whenever I touched the playback button it showed a still frame of what ever was in the monitors view. Just the last thing the camera saw basically as a still. It appears that the footage was being recorded fine. I went through 2 64gb cards. Has anyone else experienced this? Doin need to upgrade firmware? I assume I have the latest build since I just got it last week. Any help would be great.

I received my scarlet the middle of February and playback works as expected. Have you tried updating the firmware or upgrading version 2.0.8?

Can't help, but I had the same problem few days ago.
Unmounted drive to check footage and everything was there.
Did not happened anymore.

All Scarlet builds have supported playback. Please check the release notes as there is atleast one format that is not currently supported in playback. Also, what device are you trying to playback on: LCD, EVF, HDMI or HDSDI?

If you are not experiencing a known issue please open a support ticket and send us a log file.

I also experienced this problem intermittently on a 2.0.5 Scarlet on Friday. Playback attempted though the LCD, and no side handle was attached.

Have you tried restarting the Scarlet or is this a problem 100% of the time (ie no matter how many times the unit is turned off/on - it still won't playback clips)?

For me, restarts did not resolve the problem. But it was intermittent, so a little more than half the time when I initiated playback it failed to work.

Isn't firmware 2.0.08 a beta firmware, not technically a release version?

I think my camera is on .05, and I've had little issue other than the occasion lock up when trying to come back to full view from 1:1 using the pinch zoom function.

Just saying be careful about upgrading, make sure it's a release version.

Mmm. I don't have a Scarlet yet (just it's big brother) but I've had issues with unsupported playback files (5Kana) getting it a little 'confused' and then locking up playback. A restart solves the issue. Filed a ticket on it (as it's repeatable - and given the tech guys some notes)...

Are there any unsupported formats on the Scarlet - ie a mode you can record but one that is incompatible with playback?

Rented my Scarlet to a production in Italy. Received a 7am e-mail and a Skype call this morning--same issue. Playback appears as a frozen still with no options. I'd never seen it before. They attempt to repeat via FaceChat or whatever the damn thing's called--my iPhone screen shows me my camera, on the other side of the world, loading playback just fine.

Everyone laughs and it's all good. But that could've ended differently. The problem was very repeatable as several restarts failed to fix. I'm not one to laugh it off and say the camera just missed Brooklyn.

Similarly: anyone else see their SDI feed shift a chunk of the frame to the left or right?

Most of the time directors understand these things ("don't worry about it, I think the red one is still in beta"), while producers always give me dark looks. Bottom line, most everything goes away with a restart... or several restarts. Very much looking forward to mid-2012 when these get fixed.

Looks like I'm not the only one.

Tim, I was shooting 24p 800iso 1/48 @4k redcode 8to1. Shooting to 64gig redmag. Using power supply & a tamron canon mount lens & red touch lcd. Problem did not go away with restart. it appears that all my takes were recorded. I watched timecode count as I rolled and I seemed to get decent audio levels. I'll check the footage asap and post if it survived. ;) Too busy on another project right now and this was kind of a test shoot for the cam. Everything else seemed smooth. I'll file a support ticket now.

May or may not be a coincidence, but I was also shooting at 24p 800ISO 1/48 8:1 but at 4KHD rather than straight 4K. Canon Ti mount, using a nikon lens with dumb adapter. All takes recorded just fine (already graded and exporting), they just wouldn't play back on camera.

Another possibly unrelated bug: first out of four mags didn't create a log file. Not a huge deal, but might be relevant.
