HI
I'm selling my much loved and cared for Cook 18MM to 90MM (T-2.3)

I have been told by Tue Lens (ex Cook Personal) that its one of only 3 cook converted from the 20mm to 100mm, not sure why it was converted but its a great lens.
Please note it covers the full 4K, but slightly vignettes at 5K.

It comes in a custom cut foam mold Peli case 1560, and fits nicely into the over-head on planes.
it has 2 lens support bracket, 15mm and 19mm + risers.
1 set of 15mm steel bars
1 set of 19mm steel bars
and custom CNC'd support bracket bolted permanently to lens made by True Lens ltd.
Please see the pics (this sale is only for the lens and case, not the FF4 or the Epic X
Asking £7500 (if sold within the UK - VAT will apply)
Buyer pays shipping cost.

I do not get much time on RedUser so please email me with any questions.

leo, this is a technovision converted 20-100, cooke did not do this conversion. If tony covel is around he could probably tell you a bit more about it.....tony?

It is a great lens, has a wonderful look. I also have a copy of the lens. I doubt there were only 3, but its not common.

The lens was originally a Cooke 20-100 T3 lens that was modified by Technovision in Italy (they were like Panavision today). They did several mods including in some case replacing the elements (not sure on the 18-90), adding elements, increasing the wide end and greater stops. They were most famous for their Anamorphic mods.
The biggest fan of the Techno lenses (especially the anamorphic) was Storaro, who advertised them for Technovision and used them on alot of his work.

Awsome Info Greg, many thanks! do you think my valuation is correct? I'm not looking to make bundle. But we've had the lens for over 6 years and since servicing by True Lens its done little but sit on the shelf.... I'd prefer its out shooting, as we get little call for its usage. Also a great chopper lens for me in the past....
Open to offers...
Thanks
Leo

Hi Guys,
Henry Chrosiki was a great ideas man and he ran Technovision and Rented to a lot of Big Movies out of Rome and London. He came up with the idea of modifying the 20-100 T3.1 to an 18 T0 90 AND LATER 18 TO 100.
Frankly I think all he did was to open the rear light paths slightly giving a wider view. It also became a T3.0 lens. Obviously re-engraved also. He charged a premium price for these lenses both Sales and Rental.
I could never see the difference between them up side by side. However; I am sure somebody will argue different. The later lenses manufactured by Cooke as 18 to 100 T3.0 are the real deal and should be sort after. The early ones IMHO are suspect. However; the quality of the image is superb whichever you have, as are all Cookes.
Maybe we need another opinion on this subject. When you are looking at a scene with a zoom how do you see 2mm of extra angle?
By the way Henryk was a great friend of mine.

On leave 7th til 21st with no comm's.

Another thought came to me. We used to use ALL COOKE ZOOMS AS varifocal lenses. Once on the camera they never came off. Imagine a Mitchell BNC /BNCR with a Varatol it was a Studio camera. All Hand Held work was done with an ARRI 2C and a set of Cooke Series 2 & 3 lenses. Thats all we had.
Tony Covell.
