  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Parmi l'azur, a French silent feature film with a pretty creature...

When can we expect to see this? Are any distro deals in the works or has it been submitted to any NA festivals? I'm intrigued by the silence; I want to know how to keep someone's interest (I'm already assuming it's going to look gorgeous, but I'm wondering about things beyond the visuals.)

Very nice!!!

I downloaded 1080p mp4 version and then siren in that azure sea water interested me a lot...

Thanks Mike and Sanjin !

Sanjin, that's what mermaids are for, trying to drown you into the deep blue sea...

Mike, the movie has just been completed. We're just starting to look for distribution deals. Although making a feature like that, with a small crew, is really tricky, finding distribution deals is the most difficult part. There are so many movies made, and competition is tough ;-) The same thing goes for festivals : as soon as I have something, I will let you know ;-)

For instance, if you look at the Cinema section on the red.com website, you'll notice that there isn't a single French movie showcased there. And France is the third country worldwide in terms of number of movies made per year, just after India and the USA. Tough world ;-)

It would be great if Red could give a chance to this movie by showcasing it there. After all, it wouldn't have existed without the Red camera, even the whole color correction has been done with Redcine-X to benefit from the new Redcolor by that time.

Come on Red, let the mermaid drown you ;-)

Thanks for your kindness, Lewis... It was shot in the Calanques, near Marseille. In Marseille too (at l'Estaque, a "popular" quarter where artists like to go). Some scenes were also completed at the Montagne Sainte Victoire, cherished by the painter Cezanne. And the interiors were shot in Alsace, home place of the director.

Hi Jochen,
no french needed. It´s a silent movie with very beautiful music from Daniel Mille. No bluray now. As far I know Jean-Charles is still looking for a distributor or a film festival entry.
PM you

Marc

Hey, Jochen, thank you for your post ;-)

Marc is right. We're still looking for a distributor, which is quite tough as you may imagine, especially for a silent movie with such a slow rhythm... In fact there is a blu-ray master, as well as a 4K and a 2K DCP. This movie was one of the first in France, if not the first, to be fully post-produced in 4K. A 4K French DCP isn't something you see frequently here.

Bises,

Kristin

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for resurrecting this thread ;-)

We organized a few screenings of this movie mostly in France. If there is a 4K screening somewhere or a Blu-Ray in the pipes, I'll post it here. Hard times for indies ;-)
