How snug is your Epic PL mount?

I just got my Epic-X (Stage 3) and am working on my various configurations and getting used to the new camera...

I'm finding that the Epic PL mount is much more snug than my Red One PL mount was. Is anyone else finding the same thing? My lenses still fit - just takes a little more conscious effort when locking them in than when I was using the R1. I just want to make this is common and not a mfg fluke that I should have looked at (or sent back).

Thoughts? Experiences?

I'd hope so, measurement of the PL mount that came with my R1 was way off, relative to arri specifications, according to two camera technicians I spoke with, one of whom worked for Arri in the past, and mine was a good one apparently.. I'd sincerely hope the Epic mount is snugger.. I also hope the locator pins are much larger also, as the R1 mount pins were way too small (the test, put a lens on, then wiggle it).. not good when shooting with anamorphic lenses.. but not the end of the world either

Interestingly, one technician said Reds PL mounts were almost dead on, if you took the Arri specs. and moved a decimal place to left.. referring to the PL mount width

Hi!

I'm experiencing the same exact thing.
At first I thought a couple of my lenses didn't fit at all - until I aligned them properly. But it takes some effort.

I find the Titanium PL mount a bit too tight to be honest - or maybe the PL mounts on my lenses are too thick?...

Same here, excellent precision on our Epic and Scarlet (PL too).

My experience too - had a range of lenses on mine yesterday (Lomo zooms, Angie zoom and Lomo Squarefronts)... and my initial thought was I might not be able to get them in.

Super snug and a tight fit. I agree with everyone that you need to be accurate with the locator pin too.

Within a little while, and now I know how tight the mount is and I'm prepared, all is good.

Anyone else hear a grease/traction noise on their mount as you turn it?

The lens/lens mount connection is so snug that there's a vacuum popping sound when I remove my lenses/

Haha. I hear that popping sound too! It's like the sound my fingers make when I go bowling and I'm just releasing the ball down the lane...

I haven't heard the grease/traction noise but I'll listen for it today when working with the camera.

My AC was complaining about the fit just a bit. If you don't line up the pin perfectly you can't turn the lens(rpp) after its in
