I just received my Scarlet, #1515 yay! My Sidehandle is on back order, so in the meantime I just have my Small HD SDI monitor to use with it. When I hook up the SmallHD via HD-SDI all I get is the image and info on the upper left about my focal length, and focus range, that's it. No other display information about frame rate, shutter speed, historgram, etc., that the manual shows what should be displayed. Also, the HDMI doesn't seem to automatically feed out to the monitor, only SDI, is this something that has to be set thru the camera menus? And why can't I see any other info, do I need the sidehandle just to make this info appear?
Also, it appears that the Scarlet goes into a free-run mode if my hard drive is inserted, it start blinking red rapidly, perhaps because I am waiting to format the hard drive once I am able to do it in camera?

Is anyone else in the same situation, or experienced this?

Or a REDmote

Edit: think u need a touchscreen to set up cam??

Side handle does not communicate with camera by default. For some odd reason its a brick until menus appear on a display.

You will have to enable menus over SDI, the only way to do that is to use a red LCD, EVF or remote. The assumption that end users own at least 2 of these leaves folks like us in a lurch.

We've asked red to include a "hold down two buttons" function to enable menus over SDI, but until then apparently with 2.08 you can download a settings map into the camera. Not sure how though.

Bob this might be a time to cal on a fellow Torontoian with a touch screen to get you set up. If I had mine I would definitely offer it up but I am still waiting
