Has anyone one been successful in connecting their Zacuto EVF to the RED ONE under MENUS (DVI) in order to get full info on screen,

Mine doesn't work...But using VIDEO 720, I can get picture with no problem...but I have no menus.

Any help would greatly be appreciated

Everything is disconnected. I can get an image but it seems to be the wrong frequency or something...it looks ghosted an cut throughout the middle. I can see all the info on screen...yet it is not clear. I'll take a picture and post it.

Right now Zacuto is looking into this. They said that I might be one of the few using their EVF with MENUS (DVI). Clearly I can't be the only one in the world using the Zacuto EVF with a RED ONE as an alternative to the RED EVF?

Anyone else out there at least tried? The DP4 works quite well in both MENUS (DVI) and 720P

Glad to say that Zacuto contacted me yesterday with a new patch their engineers wrote and the MENUS (DVI) is now working...there are a few glitches but then again it is working 99.99% of the time...now I can stop using the original EVF in handheld situations.

:)

As much as I love to use the original RED EVF...in handheld situations the Zacuto EVF is much lighter.... I honestly thought that I would have to settle for not having MENUS DVI...but I was surprised when I got the email from Zacuto with a working solution.

Zacuto could have easily blown me off...I mean probably the EVF works in 99.9999% of all situations. For them to actually go and investigate why it was not working properly on the RED ONE and then come up with a patch was just pure awesomeness.

Another company added to my list of favorites...

I agree, 100%. I've done a lot of handheld with the RED EVF, and it's an AWESOME EVF. But alone it weighs as much as a Canon 5D, plus some. Seriously considering a Zacuto, just for handheld work, seeing how cool they were with you on this.

What is the latency like on the Zacuto. I've heard people saying that it was useless as an EVF on the RED, but this is making me reconsider.

Hey Tom:

are you asking what is the delay from the images produced by the RED to the Zacuto EVF? If this is so...I have seen zero delay. i would have to test for that...but I just used the Zacuto EVF on a 2 day 12 hour shoot and I saw none of that...mind you, I shot with one eye on the EVF and the other eye open to scan the horizon for other stuff happening around me. it was always in par.
