  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Side Handle. Shooting happened. Cops came. It was awkward.

And I thought cops were bad in LA! One thing I've learned from my experience with cops, park patrols, etc is that you should ALWAYS eject your media and put it away elsewhere if you encounter any -- because you never know if you'll run into one that's having a really, really, bad day! lol

I was shooting in Wellington a couple years ago and had this awesome shot of a road construction sign "Men at Work" and across the street was a strip club neon sign. The bouncer was unhappy that I was pointing a camera at the business and got increasingly beligerent that I had to delete all of the shots and was going to watch me do it. I was obviously legally in the right (on the street, personal/non-commercial photography of a public construction sign none the less.) and intended to discreetly eject the media and then hit the "format?" confirmation button. But I guess I didn't eject it far enough and I actually formatted the card. I was so pissed. I thought I was going to be real clever without escalating an argument with a 250lb Guerilla. :(

The first thing we shot with our Scarlet-X "Rhrett #00056" was the local Christmas Parade. While shooting a guy walks by takes a double take at the camera and actually shouts out "That a Red?" He was a local television cameraman on a break from shooting. Not more than 15 or 20 minutes later another guy walks up to us and asked "That a Red?" Upon replying yes he asked "Can I touch IT?" We moved away from that area and started walking with the cops on the beat. We were beginning to think we needed protection.

Okay, what is this from? I've heard this on set so many times explaining what the shoot is.

I think "mayonaise commercial" just sounds really boring with no stars - works well to discourage gawkers.

Here is Istanbul I point the camera at the cops and they smile and wave... I love this country :)

Here along the Gulf Coast we don't have the permit issue...frankly we don't have any issues. People think were the Channel 4 news team. Ignorance is bliss.
