  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

red evf/epic compatibility

'
If it wasn't supported, if it wasn't supposed to be compatible, they wouldn't be cooking up firmware! AFAIK that's the last official word from RDC on this subject.

Well before Jarred's post, there was an official statement that the R1 evf would be compatible (and such was the red drive even before). Only parts designed to match the camera body were to be replaced. That was red original word. Well, I know, everything changes, but not a word of that kind, IMO...

Well, mine works with my Scarlet... seems to have a bit of posterization, but works just fine.

Thanks everyone for your information, it is very helpful!

It would be interesting to know if there is an EVF purchase date, after which they are known to always be compatible with the epic, without needing to be sent in to Red. I.e. this would be working on the premise that some earlier EVF firmware is occasionally incompatible, while most later firmware is compatible. Is this how things are?

Mythbuster....a little Iphone video with the Red EVF working on Epic-X.

So my EVF flashes red/black when I plug it into EPIC. EPIC firmware 2.0.8 and I've tried starting up with it attached as well as hot plugging it. Is this what others are seeing for incompatible EVF's?

Try to unplug and replug it while the EPIC is running. Mine always works after this procedure.

My Red One EVF worked fine the first time I plugged it in. I did, however just have the main board replaced last summer, which probably has the newer firmware.

Can anyone confirm that their red One EVF works with epic on firmware v3.0.7 and/or v3.2.16?
I want to be sure before upgrading.
Thanks in advance....
