Of all the times I've shot with the RED ONE, I've never had the need to check out the mov files. On a shoot earlier yesterday, the client wanted to see a couple of the shots just for reference. I went into the external drives we had copied the media for safeguard and decided to click on some of the files...the ones that are labeled XXXXXF.mov, XXXXXH.mov, XXXXXM.mov, XXXXXP.mov.
The .mov's that were recorded on the card played flawlessly...no problems at all. The ones that were recorded on the drives were jerky and could not be played normally. From Full quality all the way to Preview quality, the .mov's were studdering.
I almost had a heart attack thinking it was the actual media recorded...but when we converted some of the files they played flawlessly. I decided to check all the other stuff I've ever shot on the RED and the story is the same. Any of the reference movies shot on CF cards will play back perfectly...anything shot on drives will not play without stammering and studdering.
I was wondering if anyone has ever noticed this. Just curious
