So on the tech specs, the scarlet-x says that it can output 720p to a monitor through HDMI and mentions a clean feed.

I want to record onto SSD in a higher quality and use the 720 clean feed to send to my AV switcher for events (the switcher can only handle 720 and we are not in a position to upgrade that side of the operation). We show live surgeries from our operatories to other rooms in the building using Crestron and Extron solutions.

Does this approach seem good? Are there any problems I could run into with recording 4k on the ssd and outputting 720 through the hdmi?

Thanks,
Zak

You might run into problems with the HDMI out being a little buggy in this firmware. Mine cuts out once in a while, and when focusing with 1:1 sometimes the image will roll from top to bottom. I think these are pretty simple bugs, but would make broadcasting interesting. Other than that, I think you'd be fine.

ha, "interesting". you mean terrifying.

We are keeping the current cameras in the system functional, so maybe i'll put a local switcher in the room incase I run into any problems I can just switch back to the old cameras. Even without the possibilities you mentioned, it'd probably be a good idea to do that.

Thanks for the info.
