I'm looking for suggestions for a Mac-based Equipment Rental or Inventory Tracking solution. I need to manage the equipment assets of a film school and hope to find something affordable that would:

1. Allow students to check gear availability for particular dates
2. Allow students to reserve gear online
3. Allow easy barcode-based check-out and check-in
4. Allow faculty to see what is "rented" or "reserved" for a particular day at a glance
5. Have iPhone or iPad access
6. Generate reports on which items were rented during specific periods and how frequently
7. Be able to designate items as "unavailable" if they are out for repair or otherwise spoken for

I figure that there are many here on REDUser that rent equipment or have larger studios that need to track their own inventories of gear, so I thought this would be a good group to ask. Thanks in advance!

Bump.

I am looking for something similar myself. Ideally something that would sync Automatically via iCloud between macs and iDevices...
I saw the "Rent Me" app developed with Silverado, its a great little app - but need to be expanded into full-blown inventory to be more practical...

If I had the time I would write something myself, but with Scarlet inbound that's not likely to happen any time soon...

I'll check out Filemaker and Bento solutions and see if those might work. I have to admit I haven't used Filemaker since about version 4, so never even thought about it as a possibility.

We use Filemaker here (v7) and it works "well". But we're looking to upgrade to a web based version so students can reserve online. The only one I've found so far is mega expensive, and there isn't a budget to get it.

I'll look at bento.

The best thing I've found in research is Bento or FileMaker. Though it does seam a little clunky.

Do either have barcode scanning capability?

As I understand it, there is no deep integration with a barcode scanner. But Bento should recognize a barcode scanner that it plugged int the computer. Put the cursor in the text box, and scan the barcode, the generated text will be applied to that field. (again... based on research, I haven't used it myself).

Thanks Joshua, Bento could turn out to be really cool.
