Hello guys, I've read some posts that saying that the traide-in price for the epic is higher than people thought. Can you post your own experience on that please? Thanks Just want to verify.

Repairs cost me ~100 bucks. Not bad, but I guess it vary's camera to camera.

My RED One got a full trade in value of $17,500. It had seen a lot of days of work and had some cosmetic blemishes. It had also died on three occasions, but been fully resurrected each time. Neither the cosmetics nor the repair history counted against it's value, and I applaud RED for not sticking it to me, especially for the scratches and paint chips. But certainly, I was nervous about it, and knowing what I know now (about the potential to not get full value and the extra 6 month wait), I'd definitely have elected for stage II, if I had it to do again.

I got dinged for about $1600 in repairs - which surprised me quite frankly because I took good care of my camera and only rented it out a few times to other people. But I'm really not that concerned. The trade-in deal is pretty amazing. Red has been very generous and I trust them enough to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I think we paid a little over a thousand to replace the audio board. They said it had a connector problem. So in the balance, as much as the camera had been used, I think we did fine. I mean, the tremendous deal the trade in represents, and the great leap forward that the Epic represents over the Red One, makes this small payment seem pretty insignificant.

Did anyone know their Red needed repair, before sending it off to Red?

Mine was in perfect working condition. It wasn't until they looked under the hood that they determined it needed servicing. Definitely something people need to be prepared for. Remember - they are giving you credit for the full value (that you paid for it new). Four years of use is going to cause wear and tear.

A little over $100 for some fan cleaning/tweaking.

Incidentally,

RED doing this work definitely suggests to me we'll be seeing some battle tested RED Ones hitting RED.com!!
