This lens is said to be designed by Angenieux AT-X PRO AF 28-70mm f/2.6-2.8 lens, its also listed at Parafocal and very good mechanically. Any one got any views about it and its suitability for PL conversion ? or using with Nikon or Canon mount with lens gears.

+1 looking for the same info, specifically it's function with the EF mount on Scarlet and/or Epic. If you haven't searched it out yet, here's a pretty thorough blog post about this len's history. I've also sought out a few stills tests with it, seems generally excellent, although a quite soft at certain focal lengths wide open, especially 70mm.

I own the Pro II version. Images are solid. Lens does not move when focusing or zooming. Focus ring has very little rotation due to autofocus design--maybe 40 degrees. Autofocus is good. Build approximates Red lens--good weight, almost all metal, dampened zoom ring, focus is very snappy.

In short not the best candidate for PL conversion because the focus is just too narrow, but a solid very affordable zoom.

I rarely use it, always on the Contax or Nikkor primes. Purchased for $300 flat happy to sell it for the same.

I own one and will shoot some stuff when I finish with moving (just moved into a new house)

Be good to hear about some real tests. I had wondered if the Angenieux origional was any better or worse but seems the Tokina mechanics might be prefered. Just dont know about the optics. If t really is parafocal then if may be a good option for some.

You'd be lucky to find the right model, with the right brand fit, that is also a good copy of an excellent lens. The QC variance tend to be in focusing, which might not worry you if you are shooting manually. They are sharper than the 28-80 though slightly soft on the wide with some CA issues. The SIGMA 24-70 2.8 is a more predictable lens, but I know people are drawn to the Angenieux link.

I just wish someone knew if the EF mount version worked on Scarlet :-/

Was shooting this week with Scarlet + Tokina 28-70 PRO II f2.6 EF mount, and I can confirm the lens works very well! No issues with iris. Lens MM displays on monitor as well. The monitor readout does not give focus distance though, like the Tokina 11-16 does.

If anyone ever has the Tokina 28-70 Pro II in Nikon mount for sale, give me a shout. I use Tokina zooms on my Red and GH2, and I'm looking for an excellent sample of that lens. Thanks!
