Hey, I have been doing some searching on how to remove spray paint markings from the ABS plastic on road cases and thought I would try here to see if anyone has suggestions. In my trials I have used acetone, paint thinner goof off, and goo gone with no joy. My googling has people saying to try oven cleaner or break fluid, but those people are taking paint off motorcycles and not the textured ABS that's on a road case. Has anyone tried those two things? Any other suggestions? It would just be nice to remove the current markings from the used cases I have and remark them.

Thanks.

I assume you are interested in something that is cheap and will not harm the case.

You just have to have the right slovent. Lacquer thinner is the strongest and will take it off in a snap. However, it may alter the plastic, so do a test first. I have had a lot of luck with something called Natutal Multi-Purpose Solvent made by Kleen Strip and available at Ace Hardware. If it doesn't come off immediately, let it soak a minute and, use a clean cotton rag and rub lightly for a minute. It will come off eventually.

Nuke-X. A little roto work and it's gone...

Methanol or denatured alcohol is what I use when we spray paint our stencil on our cases . We use it to remove the stray spray

I tried the magic erase with no luck. I had forgot to add that I had already tried denatured alcohol with no noy (the spray paint probably has been on the case for 5-10 years.) That natural stuff looks good, so I may go to lowes tomorrow and pick up a bottle of it to try. It's just amazing how hard it is to remove some freakin spray pint!

Pour a little puddle of the solvent on the paint and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. It needs to reawaken the dried paint and it takes time.
