Just got my Scarlet last friday !

Some little test : filming ok, playback on camera ok > impossible to mount the redmag on computer
Tried several computers, all connections ...

Do you think the red station is "Not working / New" ?

cheers

Have you used the Red Station before? First time I tried it I thought mine was fried, turned out it just requires some extra force to properly seat the SSD. Give it some extra push, see if that helps.

In anticipation of also receiving my scarlet-

-so SSDs are not PRE-formatted...? good to know!
-CAMERA has to do the formatting, not the computer.
-what is "red watchdog"? setting in computer? or some Red software within computer

Apologies! Not trying to jack the thread, as these"Start-up" Qs seem relevant...?

Red Watchdog is a software that comes with REDCINE X Pro. It allows the computer to mount and unmount the RedMags.

I had a RED CF STATION give me the same trouble.. Inserted a CF card, nothing. Reset my computer, nothing. Re-seated the CF card multiple times, nothing. Than, out of no where.. it just worked.

So is there any way on earth I can format using one of the options on my mac to get the SSD to record in the Epic? Only reason why I'm asking is because I have no controls of the Epic besides on/off and record due to being LCD and redmoteless.

I believe the answer is no.. although you *could* mount it r/w (through red watchdog) and then delete files... But you cant control stuff like 'reel number' and camera name this way...

I *assume* this is a temporary issue while you're waiting for more parts to arrive? Because the camera without ANY controls is pretty... ermm.. crappy. You can't control shutter speed/framerate/HDRx/aperture on EOS/audio/etc etc etc...

I believe R3D Data Manager can do this.

Also this may be a stupid question, but I made this mistake... are you making sure to push the REDMAG firmly ALL THE WAY in to the RED STATION? I thought I was, but the card wouldn't mount... a firm push to properly seat the card and it was all good.

Station is all good the only problem I'm hoping to solve is that I can some how format using a mac/pc or my Epic continues to be a sitting duck.
