Hello there,
I'm a bit new to the Red Epic game. I have panned through my white balance presets, and tried to dial balance in manually. I see no difference on my touch screen, nor on a external monitor. Is there something really simple I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Maybe you are in raw space, change the curve to redgamma or redlogfilm and you should see the difference.

I'm assuming you were in the advance white balance menu. Did you hit the "Apply Preset" button?

i know there's a user button for WB, but I can't remember what it is. I always roll on a grey card/chip chart on each lighting setup and do the color balance in post. Remember, your WB is just metadata and not baked in, so it's OK if it's not exact on location as long as you're getting a grey card on each setup.

I think you are monitoring the raw image Go to settings >tools and turn off Raw and the you white balance will be reflected in the view finder

That's what I mean with raw space :)

And we should also mention that white balance is yet another meta-data application to the recorded RAW image data. In other words, you can change it in post. However, you will still want to light and expose for lighting that is more daylight balanced. The sensor itself has an affinity for whitepoint close to 5000K. ...Actually all CMOS type sensors do, unless they have an installed filter to bias them towards something else. By trying to target something in the range of about 4500 to 5600 K, you will maximize the use of all channels.

Where do I find the White Balance option in the Epic user menu?

FINALLY. I didn't realize the only way to get to the advanced white balance menu was to touch and hold on the kelvin menu. Inside the Adv men, you can adjust color temp in kelvin, tint and WAM! "Calc White Balance" at the bottom.

My shots with +27 tint actually looked pretty good in RCX.
