Zeiss 85mm 1.4

Direct sunlight, pretty harsh.

Holy frig-holies... these are great test shots (and I've been looking into Zeiss glass too, so it's a double whammy.) Thanks.

What are you doing in Redcine-X to not have noise? On my Scarlet at ISO 800 with standard room lighting I'm getting a noisy image. I'm sure it's something I'm doing or not doing! Thanks.

I am seeing some noise in the blacks at ISO 800 in a brightly lit room. I'm not sure if it's the same thing you're seeing or not, but I definitely feel like it's noisier than it should be. White balancing to 5500k seemed to be much cleaner, but it's still something I want to look into.

Yes that is exactly what I am talking about. I was shooting at f2.0 and showed more noise than I was expecting. It helps when I crush the blacks, but wasn't expecting this
much noise. Again, it could definitely be something I am doing.

are you guys black shading?

I have been black shading at the beginning of everyday I shoot. What do people recommend as far as default vs. Current FPS/Exposure? Do you need to black shade at the start of every day, or every time you are shooting in different lighting?

At Reducation in Dec., they said it's good to black shade on a regular basis, but everyone seemed to do it in different frequencies.
Some experienced shooters said as a rule they do it once a week or so, but it's really dependent on other factors.
Different lighting might require a white balance, but not black shading.
As for Default vs. Current, I would think you'd use 'Current' to match the exposure/framerate you're shooting.

Here's what Deanan recommends :

My recommendation is to blackshade:
1) upgrading to new firmware
2) big ambient temperature changes
3) long exposure times (longer than ~1/15th sec)
4) very short exposure times (shorter than around ~1/1000th)
5) beginning of a project
6) as often as you feel like

Remember to black shade at default after long/short exposure black shade when your finished.

More convenient/flexible black shading coming later.
