I'm sitting here with Two Epics, and the Epic 00 Lemo to Sync Cable.

On a previous shoot I had no problem getting the Epic to Run/Stop with an MDR hooked up to the white BNC and the sync set to GPIO In. GPIO High set to Camera Run.

Is there anything I'm missing here? Having zero luck getting it to Run Remotely from the MDR.

Thanks!

Dan

strange because I did make it work once before with a FIZ III this is a FIZ-II unit, and preston made up an MDR to Epic Cable for this.

Is that completely worthless?

I think I figured out what I did to get it to run last time.

Somehow last time we used the zoom thumb toggle switch, which must have sent enough voltage through the mdr to put the brain GPI in High/Low to run/stop.

This is probably one of the most irritating things I have seen with the Epic - but I'm sure there was a reason Red did it this way - RIGHT? RIGHT!?!

You really need to take a look in the back of the Epic Manual at the circuit for the new GPIO. It is COMPLETELY different from the Red One and needs a special circuit not just a simple short. It's a total bummer.

the Keslow Camera "Epic Magic Box" will allow you to plug in your MDR into it and translates the start/stop signal from a FIZ into the proper signal for the Epic.

Awesome! Another unnecessary box velcroed onto the camera! grumble grumble.....
